Peace and War 028
28) Going to Work Safely vs Risking Death on the Way to Work
Normal Life
When a country is peaceful, going to work is a normal daily routine. We hardly need to worry about safety. Whether driving on the highway, taking a bus, or walking through a park, we can feel sure that we will arrive safely and return home to our family in the evening. Safe roads help us focus fully on our work and connect our chance to earn a living with the happiness of home in a smooth and comforting way.
Abnormal Life Because of War
When war begins, the road to work becomes a battlefield full of deadly danger. Every morning when we leave home, we gamble with our lives because we do not know if we will be hit by crossfire, a roadside bomb, or stopped at a cruel checkpoint. Parents live in fear every minute until their family members come back home. War turns the “road of opportunity” into a “road of death” and cruelly destroys confidence in earning a living. Trying to support the family becomes a struggle filled with extreme risk. We are left to choose between hunger inside the home or facing death outside the home, with no real choice at all.
Peace makes coming home a certainty, not a miracle.
