Peace and War 022
22) A Home of Our Own vs Losing the Last Safe Place
Normal Life
A home is often the biggest achievement and source of security for a family. People work for years to legally own a house, improve it, and create a comfortable place for their loved ones. A safe home provides stability, valuable property, and a foundation that can be passed on to future generations.
Life During War
When war arrives, legal ownership can lose its meaning. A home built through years of hard work may be occupied, damaged, or completely destroyed. Property documents cannot protect a family from weapons or military actions. Becoming homeless in one's own country is one of the most painful experiences imaginable. War takes away a family's roots, security, and sense of belonging, leaving only ruins and memories behind.
Peace protects the sanctity of the home and keeps it as private property rather than a victim of conflict.
